Chances are, you may have used dried cranberries in your Thanksgiving meal. If they were of certain varieties manufactured and distributed by Ocean Spray, you should know that some varieties have been recalled.
Because of the possibility of tiny (hair-sized) fragments of metal in some dried cranberry products that could potentially cause injury to a consumer, Ocean Spray is taking precautionary methods into their own hands by recalling these products. The recall was announced on Friday, November 25th, just one day after Turkey Day.
Although to date, no consumer complaints have been reporting relating to the hair-like fragments of metal, Ocean Spray wants to ensure consumer safety.
It's not known the exact magnitude of the recall, including the size, weight or number of packages. However, the recall affects Ocean Spray dried cranberries Craisins (original flavor) in the 48-ounce, 10-ounce, and 5-ounce varieties and the 10-pound packages in their dried cranberries bulk sweetened products. No other Ocean Spray product except the Craisins dried cranberries and the bulk sweetened dried cranberries are involved in this recall.
Consumers who purchased the recalled dried cranberries products are being asked to destroy the product. Before discarding the product, consumer should save the best by date legend and UPC symbol. They should then call the consumer hotline number at Ocean Spray at 1-800-662-3263. Consumers who follow this procedure will receive a product coupon replacement.
Ocean Spray Craisins are a popular healthy ingredient in salads, muffins, and all sorts of dishes. They are just one of the many products produced by Ocean Spray.
